UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1. The Halloween Carnival is THIS FRIDAY! We still need parent volunteers to supervise the bounce house and serve popcorn. Please contact Mrs. Fernandez if interested/available. YOU CAN EARN SERVICE HOURS!!!

Halloween Carnival

The annual St. James Academy Halloween Carnival, sponsored by the Student Council, will take place on Friday, October 26th, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The Halloween Carnival is only for St. James Preschool and Academy students and their younger siblings. Students may wear appropriate costumes: no weapons, no excessive gore and blood, no wheels, and students must be able to see and sit comfortably in class. There is a Parade of Costumes on the school blacktop immediately after the 8:00 a.m. bell. All are welcome to watch and take pictures. Costume winners will receive a prize and be recognized in the newsletter. Categories are: best individual costume, cutest costume, most creative costume and the best group/pair costume. This year, $25 wristbands will be sold in front of the office before and after school, starting Tuesday, October 9th through Wednesday, October 24th. Wristbands include a Jamba Juice Mini-Smoothie (strawberry or mango), one popcorn, one cotton candy, and unlimited games and booths. Individual tickets and wristbands will be available the day of the carnival (but will not include a smoothie).

2. This week is Red Ribbon Week! Student Council will be providing information and pledge sheets to students.

3. Due to the Halloween Carnival, SJA will be attending Mass on Thursday morning and SC members will be leading a decade of the Rosary.

4. Please read the SJA weekly newsletter.

5. The Jr. High Halloween Dance is THIS FRIDAY. Students have received invitations and need to return them along with $10. The dance is at Nativity from 6:30-8:30pm.

6. Halloween Candy Collection for the Poor

Each year students are asked to donate a part of their Halloween candy and share it with the poor. SJA will share its collected candy in several ways. Some of the donated candy will be used for the Christmas distribution at the Casa de los Pobres (House of the Poor) in Mexico. Donations of toothbrushes and toothpaste are also welcome. Please deliver your donations to the SJA front office. Thanks for sharing!
