6. Fit To Lead Update from Coach Bohman

This year in PE we are continuing to grow in our capacity be "Fit to Lead" which is being healthy in every aspect of our lives - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and relationally.  In our world today, where endless information is available at our fingertips, it truly is the ability to work together as a team that is the distinguishing factor in success.  Over the past 4 years, I have created and implemented Fit to Lead curriculum here at SJA.  The Fit to Lead curriculum is designed to intentionally empower students in their leadership, team building and conflict resolution skills.  We will also cover self-defense and nutrition. Every few weeks, the "Fit to Lead Newsletter" will be shared which includes a recap of what students have been learning in PE, pictures of the action, along with discussion questions for parents and students to use at home to further grow in becoming "Fit to Lead."

FTL Curriculum Outline:

Roles on a Team 1.  Each Unique Role 2.  Leading & Following 3.  Teachable

Teamwork 1.  Selfless 2.  Trust 3.  Communication 4.  Working Together

Conflict Resolution 1.  Life Is Not Fair 2.  Speak Life 3.  Perspective Shift 4.  Freedom

On a personal note, I'm excited to say, the FTL curriculum is being piloted in a few San Diego schools this year, and will be soon be available for students across the globe!

“Not finance. Not strategy. Not technology. It is teamwork that remains the ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is so powerful and so rare.”  ~ Patrick Lencioni, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team
