1 More Week!

Hello Jr. High Families!

Welcome Back! We are so excited to get this year started. All the Junior High teachers have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year. Here are some updates:

1. WEBSITE UPDATE: Ms. Mottles’ website has now become the all-encompassing Junior High website. You will now see tabs for all 3 teachers, each with their own info/updates. It is still a work in progress, but we hope that having one website as opposed to three would be more user-friendly. Check out the link: https://lmottles.wixsite.com/sjajrhigh

2. CALCULATORS: On the supply list, a graphing calculator is listed. However, there are several apps on the iPad that we can use too. So if you have not purchased a graphing calculator yet, no need to buy one. If you already have, NOT TO WORRY! High schools are still requiring them and will still be used in our class.

3. ORIENTATION: Orientation is this Thursday, August 23rd from 9-10am. Students will be getting their lockers and selecting their electives. While we do have some recycled locker shelves, they are limited, so please consider bringing one of your own. Additionally, please practice using your combination lock!

4. ELECTIVES: We are working to finalize our first trimester electives over the next few days. Our goal is to send out the elective description Wednesday night to preview. Please keep in mind you may not always get your first choice. Additionally, some electives may require an additional fee which will be billed through FACTS.

5. NEW BACK GATE POLICY: Since Junior High students begin their day at 7:45, SJA faculty will be closing the back gate promptly at 7:45. Any student that arrives after 7:45 will have to enter at the front of the school (Junior High students will have to get a tardy slip at the front office).

7. iPADs: iPads will be distributed the first week of school. To reduce the likelihood of damage, we are requiring that iPads are to stay at school unless used for a specific assignment/project. SJA iPads are no longer covered by APPLE CARE. SJA families are responsible for any damage and to the iPad. Please remember that iPads are intended to be used as an academic tool and not as an entertainment device.
